How To Witness To a Muslim

Do you have a Muslim friend? Do you talk to Muslims in your everyday life? Would you like to lead a Muslim to a saving relationship with Jesus? There are successful ways to do this. There are also things you can do that will alienate Muslims and you will never be able to communicate with them.

What To Not Do

First of all, do not witness to a Muslim in the same way you would witness to other non-believers. There are several things that you must not do. The first is that you do not put down their religion. Of course, this would be true with a believer in any other religion. This would put any of them on the defensive and they would quit listening to you. They would not hear anything else that you tell them.

Islam is their way of life. It is all that they have ever known. It is the only thing that makes sense to them. Actually, all you really want to do is to get them into a saving relationship with Jesus. You do not need to change the way that they live their life. If it needs changing, the Holy Spirit will lead them to make that change when the time is right.

Allah Does Not Refer To A False God

Next, do not tell a Muslim that he/she is worshiping a false god. Do not tell them that Allah is not the true God. In fact, if they know anything about the Arab Christian Bibles, they will know that those Bibles use “Allah” everyplace that we use the word “God” in our English Bibles.

In fact, when Muhammad wrote the Koran, he was trying to bring the knowledge of the Jewish and Christian God to his own people. He did not do a very good job of it and the teaching of the Koran has been corrupted down through the years. Thus, a modern Muslim does not really know who Allah is. It is our job to lead him/her into a correct knowledge of who God is, and especially who Jesus is.

Allow Them To Read The Koran

Next, do not tell them to stop reading their Koran, if they are able to read it. In fact, if they are able to read the Koran, they can get a pretty good understanding of who God and Jesus is. The problem is that most Muslims cannot read the Koran, they only read the commentaries that have been written by their Imams. Don’t even tell them to stop reading these commentaries. If you do, they will stop listening to you.

Ask them if they know what their Koran says about the Bible. If they do not know (and they probably do not know), ask them to go to their Imam and get their Imam to tell them what the Koran says about the Bible. You see, their Koran teaches that to be a completed and true Muslim, they must read the 4 Holy Books which are: the Torah (our Old Testament), the Psalms, the Gospels (our New Testament), as well as the Koran.

The Koran Talks About Jesus

Ask them what they know about Jesus. What does their Koran say about Jesus? Again, you can ask them to go to their Imam and ask their Imam to tell them what the Koran says about Jesus. There are many, many passages in the Koran that teach about Jesus.

It is possible that their Imam will not tell them what the Koran says about reading the Bible or what it says about Jesus. Although here in America, many Imams (not all) will be honest with Muslims and tell them what the Koran says.

Most Muslims will want to know more about Jesus because the Koran only whets their appetite about Him. You do not have to try to tell them about Jesus. Start with this. Since the Koran tells them that they need to read the New Testament, give them a Bible (or just the New Testament) and tell them to read it.

I would have them start with the Gospel of John. Once they do this, they will be full of questions. Now you have a chance to answer their questions and be able to lead them into a saving relationship with Jesus.

The Holy Spirit Will Do The Work

You see, you are not going to convince them to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Their Muslim teaching prevents that. However, if you get them to read in the Bible about Jesus, the Holy Spirit will teach them.

Remember what Jesus said in John 14:26 (NIV): “But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.” The Holy Spirit will teach them through the words that they are reading.

Let the Holy Spirit do His work in people. This will especially work in a Muslims life. Remember the meaning of the word “Muslim?” It means “one who is totally committed to God.” A true Muslim is one who is constantly seeking God, he just does not know where to look. Islam has blinded him and he is constantly looking in the wrong direction.

When you are able to lead him to search for God’s truth in the Bible (which the Koran  commands him to read), the Holy Spirit will be able to reveal the truth to him. Your job is not to convict (that is the Holy Spirit’s job), yours is only to lead.

However, remember to spend much time in prayer for them while they are reading the Bible that you gave to them. You do not know how long they will need to read that Bible, so pray for them as often as the Holy Spirit leads you to pray for them.

Help The Muslim In Their Search

Allow the Muslim to begin reading the Bible on his own. Remember, it is not your job to convince him/her about the truth that is contained in the Bible. That is the job of the Holy Spirit. Be patient with them. Allow them to learn at their own speed.

After the Muslim has started to read the Bible, and especially after he has accepted that the Bible is the Word of God, then you can lead him to specific passages. Remember, in Islam, there is no guarantee of salvation. They can never know for sure that they are going to go to heaven when they die.

Thus, be open to their questions about salvation and the assurance of salvation. When they begin to ask these questions, show them the passages where, through Jesus, they can have the assurance of going to heaven when they die.

Help Them To Accept Jesus When They Are Ready

I cannot emphasize this enough. Don’t push them. All you will do is to push them away. If they are open to discussing with you about what they are learning, you can ask them questions, but allow them to proceed at their own pace.

Yes, you are anxious to get them “saved.” But remember, you don’t get them “saved.” That is the job of the Holy Spirit. He knows how fast they can be led. Allow Him to do His work. Keep praying and the Holy Spirit will tell you when you can proceed to the next step.

Finally, when the Holy Spirit tells you, you can lead them in a prayer to accept Jesus into their life. You probably will not want to lead them in a “sinners prayer.” Remember, their concept of sin is much different than ours is. Your only job is to lead them to where they want to accept Jesus into their life and commit to following Him for the rest of their life.

Allow the Holy Spirit to convict them of sin. This can and will happen after they have committed their life to Jesus and learn about all that Jesus (through the Holy Spirit) has to teach them.

Remember this. If you can turn one Muslim that is being influenced by a radical Imam from Jihad, think of what the reward will be. You can do it by simply loving him/her and showing them the kindness that comes from following Jesus.

Concluding Thoughts

I may add more about Muslims in the future, but I hope and pray that this little bit that I have written in these 8 articles will help you in your relationship with Muslims. Remember that all Muslims are not terrorists. In fact, only a minority are. Yes, there are many that are under the influence of radical Muslims (Jihadists), even here in America. However, even these can be reached, if we pray enough for them.

Remember II Peter 3:9 (NIV): “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”

God is patient with us. We need to also be patient with others. They have a free will just like we do. We cannot force them into anything, especially a saving relationship with Jesus Christ. Our job is to simply offer Jesus to others, and to do what we can to lead them into a saving relationship with Him.

The best thing that you can do is to simply love them. Do loving and kind things for them. Show them that you want the best in life for them. Show them, by your example, how a follower of Jesus really lives.

Your example will cause them to change their thinking about Christians. And eventually, they will want to know why you are so different than what they have been taught about Christians. It is then that you can tell them that you are a follower of Jesus.

Before you witness to anyone, spend some time in prayer and allow the Holy Spirit to lead you. He will tell you what you need to do and to say.

Muslims usually have strong prejudices and objections against the message of the Gospel, especially on such matters as the reliability of the Bible and the status of Jesus, which may prevent them from receiving the Gospel.
They think that the Bible is not in its original form but it has been changed and twisted in the past, and also the Koran has displaced the Bible. As comes to Jesus, they think he did not die on the cross, that he is not the Son of God or in any way equal with God; in other words, they deny all these basic principles of faith associated with Jesus. They also have other misconceptions (among other things, they connect Christianity with the Western world), and for that reason they do not want in any way to study this matter more closely, which is regrettable.
The most common objections that Muslims can have are dealt with below. We will especially try to answer these questions with the help of the Bible but we also use the holy book of the Muslims, the Koran. The issues that we are going to deal with are certainly important for everyone.

You are right. This is why we need to show them love. Show them the difference between their beliefs and what the presence of Christ in our lives does for us. Most Muslims have never felt real love and are hungry for it.

  2. Teresa says:

I have to disagree with you although I know yo are correct. I’m not sure if its the style of my personality or if it is the way it woll work best with me. They way you are saying it is to gently expose them in a position where God would be able to reach them and then take it over from there. Well if they are faithful to their faith like the revolve their whole lives around it they should know what the Koran is saying and they should already have read the New testament. If they haven’t done this then they aren’t all that true to their faith so no need to baby step them just tell them straight out.

These are able thinking people who worship the Antichrist and are counting down the minutes till their 12th Maudi comes so they can start chopping off our heads. In other words because I will never follow Islam they have a thirst for my blood.

That is some crazy stuff right there. I think the best way to handle this is to scare the crap out of them just like they are trying to do to us. Except we don’t try and kill or hurt them. Instead of scaring them by suicide bombing we scare the crap out of them with a simple little thing called the truth.

Our bible was writing before their bible was. I don’t think Islam even existed when the bible was written. If that is true and our bible is the false bible then how come our bible tells us about them before it even happened? God destroys these people. He sends the whole middle east straight to hell. No time to pass Go these people are in trouble.

I think we need to confront them in a way that check mates them. In a way that they can’t get out.. Let it piss them off. The truth hurts. The more you piss them off the more your words will replay in their heads. Just like a broken record. You check mate them you will force them to have to try and prove you wrong or find someway out of it with will have them doing more research.

Remember We have the truth. There is nothing for us to do. We dont have to do anything. The truth will set you free. Let the truth do all the work.

Every evil bad thing that they do and believe in has to be placed before them. They can’t deny it. We also know they are ordered to lie in order to protect Islam. I refuse to believe these are stupid people people who are unable to learn and grasp concepts. If it was peace and right and good what would their be to lie about? A God that tells you to lie and trick people. Lets asks the little girls if they like being forced to marry and have sex with old men. No one should be forced into anything so why would a God want someone who is only their because they were forced to follow Islam but its really not on their hearts to do so? If you wont verbally submit their God orders them to death which means he dont want the ones that don’t want him.. So why would he want the ones who are weaker and submit verbally but not in their hearts? He wouldn’t So this whole deception thing is not what a true God would want.

I’m not good at trapping people into things but that is the approached I am taking with this. I am placed in an opportunity to reach 1000 of not 100,000’s of Muslims. I have to figure this out and do it right.

We don’t have time to baby step one little Muslim. Jesus is on his way back and God is going to destroy every last one of them very shortly here. We need a massive revival and we needs to save them in the masses and then get their butts out there helping us.

Hopefully they will trust their own kind better then trusting us but I don’t think so… I think they know how untrustworthy they are so they wont trust their own. They will know better then to do that. This guy talks about putting them in check mate.

Again these are just my thoughts. I could be very wrong.
