Is The Rapture Real?

The rapture is the most real event that will even happen on this earth. The Rapture will be real, even to those who do not believe in it.

It Is a Mystery

In I Cor. 15:51, Paul calls the Rapture a mystery. But it is only a mystery to those who do not believe the Bible. Paul goes on to explain exactly what this “mystery” is. 1 Cor. 15:52-53 (NIV): “in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality.”

The Experience Will Be Either Marvelous Or Devastating

What a marvelous experience this will be for all believers (those who have accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior). But what a devastating experience it will be for those who are not believers. Jesus said in Matthew 24:40-41 (NIV): “Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left.”

Can you imagine? You are standing talking to someone and suddenly he (she) disappears? Can you imagine sitting in a meeting and suddenly half of the people suddenly disappear? Can you imagine riding with someone in a car and suddenly the driver disappears?

The truth is that you don’t have to be one of those who witness others disappearing. You can be one of those who disappear.

Our Bodies Will Be Changed Instantly

The Bible provides an illustration of this transforming experience. Genesis 5:24 (NIV) says: “Enoch walked with God; then he was no more, because God took him away.” A day is coming when all believers will be transformed like the godly Enoch, whose earthly body was suddenly made fit to be in heaven with God.

Paul describes this in 1 Cor. 15:54-55 (NIV) “When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: ‘Death has been swallowed up in victory. Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?’”

For the believer, there will be no more death. Our bodies will be changed instantly into a heavenly body, where there is no more death.

All Believers Will Meet Jesus In The Air

1 Thess. 4:16 (NIV) says: “For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.” All believers who have died since Pentecost will meet Jesus in the air.

I believe that all those who have died after accepting Jesus as their Lord and Savior have been living in heaven with Jesus since they have died. There is too much evidence for us to believe otherwise. Many people have come back from the dead testifying that they have seen their loved ones and Jesus in heaven.

Those who have already died “in the Lord” will come back with Him and we who are still alive will meet them in the air.

Everyone Will Know That Something Extraordinary Has Happened

Even those who are not around Christians will know that something extraordinary has happened. I Thess. 4:16 says that Jesus will come “with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God.” That is, everyone will hear what is happening and I believe that they will also see this marvelous sight in the sky.

The Blessed Hope

Paul calls this, in Titus 2:13, “the blessed hope–the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.” This is not a “hope” that means a nice thing we earnestly suspect might happen. No, this is a certified fact of the future, promised by God’s unfailing Word. In this case, “hope” means a present, confident expectation of a certain future event.

Paul goes on to say in 1 Thess. 4:17 (NIV): And so we will be with the Lord forever.” Now, that is a “blessed hope.” No more death, no more sickness, no more sorrow, no more bad relationships. We will live forever with Jesus in heaven.

Are You Ready?

That is the question that we must all ask ourselves? Am I ready for this event? It is going to happen. I cannot escape it. Is it going to be a marvelous or a devastating experience for me? It is much better to ask that question right now rather than after it happens. It is better to answer that question right now rather than after it happens.
