Israel And America’s Future

Does America’s future rest on what happens to Israel? If you believe the Bible, it certainly does. Remember, God blessed America because of our support of Israel. Read my article “Israel And America Blessed.” And there are judgments coming right now on America because our policies are hindering God’s plan for Israel. Read my article “Israel And America Judged.” If the first phrase of Genesis 12:3 is true, then the second phrase must also be true.

Genesis 12:3 (NKJV)
“I will bless those who bless you,
And I will curse him who curses you.”

Americas Dichotomy

America is walking a two-way street concerning Israel. On the one hand, we are supporting Israel through our financial help and our commitment to protect Israel. On the other hand we are pressuring Israel to divide the land. The question is: what are we going to be doing in the future? What side are we going to land on?

If we continue to pressure Israel to give up land for “peace,” God certainly is not going to continue to bless us as a country. Remember, all creation belongs to God and that includes all the land in this earth. You can accept it or not but God said that a certain area of land in the Middle East He has given to Israel as an inheritance. If we go against God’s plan for Israel, all we can expect are judgments coming against us.

Throughout the Bible, God states that He has given the land of Canaan to the Israelites as an inheritance. For instance in Psalm 105:11 (NKJV): “Saying, “To you [Israel] I will give the land of Canaan as the allotment of your inheritance,”

We need to remember this commitment that God made to Israel. To go against it is to bring judgment upon ourselves.

However, if we truly do keep our commitment to protect and provide for Israel, we can expect God to continue to bless us. Will our government continue to do this? I do not know. I certainly hope so.

But I believe that individual blessings can also come from blessing Israel. Even if our government does not continue to bless Israel, individuals can be blessed. All we must do is to support Israel through our prayers and our monetary gifts. Blessings and curses come to both governments and to individuals.

Israel’s Future

Does Israel have a future? What is going to happen to Israel? If we look at this situation solely in worldly terms, Israel has no chance at all to remain a nation. They will surely be wiped off the face of the map. Just look at the size of Israel compared to all the surrounding nations that are dedicated to its destruction.

Yet, if we look at the Bible, the outcome is vastly different. The Bible proclaims over and over that after Israel becomes a nation once again in the land of Canaan, it will remain until the end of time. Israel will not be destroyed, but rather the nations that are trying to destroy Israel will be destroyed. In fact, the book of Obadiah tells us what is going to happen to the descendants of Esau (Edom).

Does God Hold Grudges?

If you look at the book of Obadiah, as well as other passages in the Bible, some people would say yes, God does hold grudges. Three places in the Bible it says that God is a jealous God who punishes people even unto the third and fourth generation of those who hate Him.

For instance, Numbers 14:18 (NKJV): “The Lord is longsuffering and abundant in mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression; but He by no means clears the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generation.”

Before you jump to any conclusions, meditate on the first part of the above passage. It says that the Lord is longsuffering (patient) and abundant in mercy. This should tell you right away that God does not and can not hold grudges. So, what does the second part of that passage mean?

First, it does not say that God wants to punish the children of God-less fathers. What is God is trying to get across to us is that if children follow in their ungodly fathers footsteps, they will receive the same punishment that their fathers received.

Esau (Edom) Will Receive God’s Punishment

The descendants of Esau is a case in point. The prophecy of Obadiah is a prophecy concerning Esau and his descendants, but it has not yet been fulfilled. However, everything is now in place for it to be fulfilled. Why did God wait so long? Remember, God said that He is patient. He does not want to punish people. He wants them to repent. God has given the descendents of Esau all these years to repent. However, instead of repenting, their hatred of Israel has just grown stronger.

Obadiah is saying that the descendents of Esau will be completely destroyed. Obadiah 1:18 (NKJV)
“’The house of Jacob shall be a fire,
And the house of Joseph a flame;
But the house of Esau shall be stubble;
They shall kindle them and devour them,
And no survivor shall remain of the house of Esau,’
For the Lord has spoken.”

The Living Bible explains Obadiah 1:18 very simply: “’Israel will be a fire that sets the dry fields of Edom [Esau] aflame. There will be no survivors,’ for the Lord has spoken.”

Who are the descendants of Esau? If you study the history of the Middle East, you will soon discover it they are the modern Palestinians. So, if you believe what the Bible says, and I do because it is God Holy Word, Israel will totally annihilate the Palestinians. Keep your eyes on the Middle East.

What About America?

The key verse in Obadiah is Obadiah 1:15 (NKJV)
“For the day of the Lord upon all the nations is near;
As you have done [to Israel], it shall be done to you;
Your reprisal shall return upon your own head.”

God is telling, not just the descendents of Esau, but the whole world, something very important. “Whatever you do, or try to do to Israel, it will be done to you.” Obadiah explains how the descendents of Esau tried again and again to annihilate Israel. God is saying right here that what they tried to do to Israel will be done to them.

The same warning is being given to America (and all the nations of the world). We are going to be treated by God in the same way that we treat Israel. This was proven during the first part of the history of America. As we blessed Israel, God blessed us. However, if we turn against Israel, God will turn against us.

Yes, our future is in our own hands. If we want to be blessed by God, we must bless Israel. Our nation must support and help protect Israel. Otherwise, our nation will cease to exist as a world power.

However, this is true not only for our nation as a whole, but also individually. Even if our government turns against Israel, we, as individuals do not have to. Yes, we may find our nation losing its financial and military power, but we, as individuals, can continue to receive God’s blessing on our own lives. All we must do is to bless Israel in any way that we can, through our prayers and even our financial support.
