Muslims Understanding of Jesus And Our Bible

There are about 244 references to “the Book” in the Koran. 31 of these are specific references to the “followers of the Book.” This term refers to Jews and Christians. The Koran also teaches that the three other Holy Books are “the Torah,” our Old Testament, “the Psalms,” and “the Gospels,” our New Testament.

Muslims Know About Jesus

The Muslims understanding about Jesus is very close to what the Bible teaches. They stop short of acknowledging that Jesus is God because, in their mind, this is contrary to the belief that there is only one God. If they accept Jesus as God, then they are accepting the idea that there is more than one God.

The Koran does teach that Jesus was born of a virgin. [19:19-20] “He said, ‘I am only the messenger of your Lord to give you [news of] a pure boy.’ She said, ‘How can I have a boy while no man has touched me and I have not been unchaste?’”

This is very close to the Biblical teaching. In another place, it says [21:91] “And [mention] the one who guarded her chastity, so We blew into her [garment] through Our angel [Gabriel], and We made her and her son a sign for the worlds.”

The Koran also gives the attributes of deity to Jesus. It says that Jesus made a bird come to life that He had made out of clay. He also healed the blind, cured lepers and even brought forth the dead. The Koran [5:110] proclaims this and yet still does not accept Jesus as a deity.

The Koran teaches about the death and eventual resurrection of Jesus. It quotes Jesus as saying in [19:33] “and peace be upon me the day I was born, and the day I die, and the day I shall be raised alive.” See how close this is to the teaching in the Bible.

The Koran And “The People Of The Book”

Muslims who teach that all Christians must be destroyed simply do not know or accept what their Koran teaches. [29:46] “And do not argue with the People of the Scripture except in a way that is best, except for those who commit injustice among them, and say, ‘We believe in that which has been revealed to us and revealed to you. And our God and your God is one; and we are Muslims [in submission] to Him.’”

Throughout the Koran, the phrase “People of the Book” always refers to both Jews and Christians. And the phrase “People of the Scripture” refers to Christians. Notice that the Koran actually says that the Muslim God and the Christian God are the same God. Also notice that it says that we are all Muslims, that is, all Muslims, Christians and Jews are followers of the same God.

Most Muslims do not know this teaching because their Imams do not want them to know. If they did, they would accept Jews and Christians as their equals. However, this would be contrary to the agenda of the Radical Muslims (Jihadists).

All Believers In God Are Equal

The Koran teaches that all believers in God are equal. [2:285] “The Messenger has believed in what was revealed to him from his Lord, and [so have] the believers (Christians). All of them have believed in Allah and His angels and His books and His messengers, [saying], ‘We make no distinction between any of His messengers.’ And they say, ‘We hear and we obey. [We seek] Your forgiveness, our Lord, and to You is the [final] destination.’”

Keep in mind that in all Arabic Bibles, God is not called “God” but rather He is called “Allah.” Also remember that the Koran teaches that there is a difference between those who just call themselves “Christians” and those who have committed themselves to following the teachings contained in “the Book” (our Bible).

Notice that it says that all believers believe in “His Books.” Notice that it is plural “Books.” Also notice that it says that there is no distinction between any one of His Messengers (Apostles). Other places in the Koran list Old Testament prophets as messengers of God.

There can be no doubt that Muhammad taught in the Koran that he was following the teaching of the Jews and Christians. He just did not have a full understanding of those teachings. That is why there are differences between the Koran and our Bible.

Muslims And The Bible

Most Christians do not realize it but the Koran commands a Muslim to read the Bible. Radical Muslims have completely ignored this commandment of theirs because when Muslims do read the Bible with an open mind, they realize who Jesus really is.

Then they realize that it is through Jesus that they can have an assurance of eternal life. When they realize this, they usually stop following the Koran and start following Jesus and the Bible that revealed Jesus to them.

The Koran teaches that to be a completed and true Muslim, you must read the 4 Holy books. They are:

Al Koran: the Koran

Al Tawrat: the Torah, which is our Old Testament

Al Zebour: The Psalms

Al Ingeel: The Gospels, which is our New Testament

The Koran Proclaims That Allah Gave The Scriptures To Us

In the Koran {5:43] it says “But how is it that they (Jews) come to you for judgment while they have the Torah, in which is the judgment of Allah?”

Then again, in the Koran [5:44] it says: “Indeed, We sent down the Torah, in which was guidance and light. The prophets who submitted [to Allah] judged by it for the Jews, as did the rabbis and scholars by that with which they were entrusted of the Scripture of Allah.” Here it says that the Torah (our Old Testament) was given to the Jews. “The Scripture” (in the above reference) refers to our New Testament.

Look also in the Koran in [5:46] “And We sent, following in their footsteps, Jesus, the son of Mary, confirming that which came before him in the Torah; and We gave him the Gospel, in which was guidance and light and confirming that which preceded it of the Torah as guidance and instruction for the righteous.”

There are actually many more passages in the Koran that proclaim that our Bible was given to the human race by God (Allah). However, this is not being taught in the Mosques by the Imams.

The point is that if you can get a Muslim to understand that the Koran commands them to read the Bible, you will have started them in their journey to accepting Jesus into their life and accepting Him as their Lord and Savior.

The Koran Validates Judaism and Christianity

The Koran is full of verses that teach the validity of Judaism and Christianity. It even teaches Muslims to love them because they hold the truth that God gave to the human race before Mohamed.

Notice that the Imams do not teach this. Why? Because they have been trained mostly by radical Muslims. And they also know that if Muslims began to read the Bible with an open mind, they will turn to Jesus as their Savior. When this happens, the radical Muslims will lose their control over them.

If you want to reach Muslims for Jesus, the best way to do this is to help them to see that their own Koran commands them to read the Bible. Ask them to ask their Imam what the Koran says about the Torah, the Gospel and the Psalms.

Another thing you can do is to go to the Quran Explorer and enter in the words “Holy Book” in the Quran Search. You will be presented with a multitude of verses in the Koran that refer to our Bible. This site will also help you to understand the true teachings of the Koran.
