The Tribulation Period Will Happen

There has been a lot of discussion concerning the Tribulation Period lately. This is probably because of what is happening around the world right now. More and more Bible teachers are declaring that the Second Coming going to happen very soon. If this is true (and I believe it is), then the Tribulation Period will begin very soon. In fact, some say that may have already started.

With what is happening in the world right now, I believe that it will be a treaty that is still in our future.

When the Tribulation Period Will Occur

Jesus explains to us in Matt. 24 that many things must happen before He comes again. He warns us that there will be many disasters, such as wars, famines, persecutions, earthquakes, etc. He even warns us that impostors and false prophets will come and they will deceive many people.

All of these things have already been happening. But Jesus adds another very important phrase in Matthew 24:12 (NIV): “Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold.”

Yes, there is a revival going on around the world. But look at the majority of the world. Look at the Muslim world. It is full of wickedness and hatred.  Look at what is happening in Europe, Russia, Japan, etc. Look at what is happening right here in our government here in America. The world is turning away from God and His righteousness. This is what Jesus was talking about in Matt. 24:12

One Last Event Must Happen

There is one last thing that will happen just before Jesus Comes again. This is revealed to us in II Thess. 2:3 (NIV): “Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction.”

This rebellion is when the Antichrist sets himself up as the god of this world. This is revealed in the next verse. II Thess. 2:4 (NIV): “He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God.”

Daniel 7:27 indicates that this will happen in the middle of the 7 year Tribulation Period. Does this mean that the Rapture will take place at that time? I don’t really know. However, it is quite possible.

I believe that the Church must be raptured before the Antichrist can gain power because as long as the Church is on the earth, the Holy Spirit will hold the Antichrist back. This is because of the multitude of prayers raised up by the Church.

Remember, God does not lay out, step by step, what will happen and how it will happen. He just tells us what to look out for and what to do while we are waiting.

The Duration and Makeup of the Tribulation

We do know some things about this Tribulation Period. And if we study the Scriptures, we can come to some very definite conclusions.

Daniel 9:27 says that the Tribulation Period will last for 7 years. It is divided into two 3 ½ year periods. A treaty that is made with Israel and is confirmed by the Antichrist designates the beginning of the period and a breaking of that treaty designates the middle of it.

Joel speaks what will happen just before and perhaps during the first half of this period in Joel 2:28-32 (NIV): “And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days. I will show wonders in the heavens and on the earth, blood and fire and billows of smoke. The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord. And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved; for on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there will be deliverance, as the Lord has said, among the survivors whom the Lord calls.”

This passage points directly to the Tribulation Period and it indicates that even during all the trouble and disasters that will happen, there will be a great harvest of people for God through Jesus Christ.

Reason for the Tribulation Period

Many people are saying that this indicates such a terrible time for the human race that God could not possibly allow this to happen. But stop and think about why God is going to allow this to happen.

The Tribulation Period does not make God a terrible monster. Remember, He created us as free creatures. We are free to choose to follow God or to reject Him. However, God wants all of us to love and have fellowship with Him.

God also knows that most people will not turn to Him unless things are so terrible for them that they realize that God is their only answer. By allowing the Tribulation Period to happen, He is trying to wake people up so they will make a decision to live for God instead of against Him.

Remember what God said in II Peter 3:9 (NIV): “He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”

Yes, many will suffer during this judgment period, but these are not “innocent men and women.” They are those who refuse to acknowledge God as God and refuse to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior so that they can live forever with Him in heaven.

So remember! Today people are refusing to listen to God and His warnings. It is typical that people will not turn to God until their situation becomes drastic. God is making their situation drastic to give them one last chance.

The Tribulation Period Will Began Very Soon

There are two things that have finally happened that let us know that we are living in the season of the beginning of the Tribulation Period.

Jesus proclaims that just before and perhaps during the first part of the Tribulation Period that there will be a new type of conflict. He says in Matthew 24:7 (NIV): “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.”

First! There have always been wars between nations. However, for the first time in the history of mankind, one kingdom has declared war against another kingdom. The kingdom of radical Islam has declared war against the kingdom of Christ (Jews and Christians).

Some say this happened when the Crusaders went to war against the Muslims in the 12th, 13th and 14th centuries. The Crusaders did not declare war against the Muslims, they just wanted to take back the control of Jerusalem and the Holy Land. However, now the radical Muslims have declared all out war against the Jews and Christians and have vowed to destroy all of them.

Second! Jesus said in Matthew 24:14 (Living Bible): “And the Good News about the Kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world, so that all nations will hear it, and then, finally, the end will come.” For the first time in history, this is now being done. No matter where you are in the world, you can tune in to a satellite radio or satellite TV and hear the Gospel being preached. Jesus said that when this happens, then the end will come.

Are You Ready For It?

If you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you are ready for it. You may experience a small portion of tribulation (in fact, many around the world are already experiencing it) but you will miss the majority of it.

If you have not yet accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, now is the time to do it, before the God’s judgment is released upon the earth. How do you do this? Go to How To Live Forever and follow the instructions.
