What Is Heaven Like?

What is heaven going to be like? What do you think heaven is going to be like? Everyone has their own idea of what this eternal existence is going to be. Most of it is based on what we truly enjoy here on earth. Often it is based on what we have read in the Bible. There will be streets of gold. There will be eternal light, that is, no need of a sun, etc. Others, like those who enjoy nature see it as full of green trees, grass, etc.

Heaven Is More Than We Can Imagine

Personally, I think that the environment will be something so grand and wonderful that we cannot even imagine it. We are now trapped in a physical world and that is all we know. We can imagine what heaven is going to be like, but our thinking is limited to what we know and that is limited to the physical world around us.

Heaven is going to be a spiritual world, something that is so far beyond our imagination that it would seem unreal to us right now. In fact, I think that it will be so wonderful that it might even scare us to get a glimpse of it right now. Remember, people that have gone to heaven and returned have often described it as “pure light” or even something that cannot be described in physical terms.

There Are Some Thing We Can Know About Heaven

The Bible does tell us some things that we can know about heaven. In fact, the most important thing is found in Rev. 21:3 (NIV). “And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.”

Can you imagine anything better than to live forever with God, to live in His environment for the rest of your existence? God love us and wants the best for His children. This is certainly better than living forever outside of His existence, outside of everything good that He has created. Yes, God wants the best for His children and He has prepared a place where the best will be forever.

What Will We Not Find In Heaven?

John tells us something amazing. In Rev. 21:22 (NIV), he says: “I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.” There is no need for a Temple because we will constantly be in the presence of Almighty God. However, there are some other things that will not be there. This is all found in the book of Revelation.

  • No more Sea (21:1)
  • No more tears, death, sorrow, crying, or pain (21:4)
  • No more sinners (21:8)
  • No more fear (21:12)
  • No more sun or moon (21:23)
  • No more night (21:25)
  • No more sin or evil (21:27)
  • No more disease or injuries (22:2)
  • No more curse (22:3)

What We Will Find in Heaven

Of course, John also tells us what he say that will be in heaven. Look at this list that Tim LaHaye listed in his book “Are We Living in the End Times?”

  • Unending fellowship with God. (21:3, 7, 22)
  • Unending newness (21:5)
  • Unending water of life (21:6, 22:1)
  • Unimaginable beauty (21:11:21)
  • Uncompromised  security (21:12)
  • Unbroken unity between believers (21:12,14)
  • Unlimited holiness (21:16)
  • Unparalleled size (21:16)
  • Untold wealth (21:18-21)
  • Unending light (21:23, 22:5)
  • Unrestricted access (21:25)
  • Unending fruit from the tree of life (22:2)
  • Unceasing service to God (22:3)
  • Unending reign (22:5)

Tim LaHaye also gives another list of other Bible texts that heaven will have and be.

  • A place of rest (Hebrews 4:1-11, Rev. 14:13)
  • A place where there will be full knowledge. ( I Cor. 13:12)
  • A place of holiness (Heb. 12:14, Eph. 2:21)
  • A place of joy (I Thess. 2:19, Jude 1:24
  • A place of glory (2 Cor. 4:17)
  • A place of worship (Rev. 7:9-12; 19:10)

Are You Looking Forward to This?

Are you looking foreword to this kind of existence after you die here on earth? Can you imagine going to a place where there is none of the above? Here on the earth, God created everything that is good. It will be no different in heaven.

However, can you imagine a place where there is nothing good that God created for his children? Because if you have not yet accepted Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior, that is where you will spend eternity. This is a place commonly known as Hell.

This is why I have accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior. If you have not, go to How To Accept Jesus and accept Him as your personal Lord and Savior. I will be looking forward to seeing you there.
