What Is Satan Doing?

For most people, Satan is connected with evil. Yet, everyone seems to have a different idea of what is evil and what is not evil. Radical Muslims even call America(that is a Christian nation) “the great Satan.” I have already written about who Satan actually is, but the question I want to address now is “what does Satan do?”

The Bible tells us what Satan is now doing. As you read this, you might think that we need to be afraid of him. If you are a Christian, you do not need to be afraid of him. Remember what the Bible says about Christians and Satan in I John 4:4 (NIV): “You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the One who is in you is greater than the One who is in the world.”

Satan Is Our Adversary

The first thing we need to realize about Satan is that he is our enemy, our adversary. Those who worship Satan (Satanists) have no idea that they are worshipping someone who hates them. He is doing his best to drag them, with him, into eternal damnation.

Listen to what God tells us in Eph. 6:12 (NIV): “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”

Most people think that we are in a fight against other people who want to dominate us. There is some truth in this. Radical Muslims have declared war againstAmericaandIsrael. But this is not where the real battle is being fought. This is just the physical realization of what is going on in the spiritual world.

Eph. 6:12 clearly explains this. Yes, we should protect ourselves physically as best as we can. However, if we want to win this war, we must center our struggle in the spiritual world. It is Satan and his demons that are trying to destroy us. And it is not just through war.

Satan Deceives People

Listen to II Cor. 11:14 (NIV): “And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light” He is doing his best to get people to believe that what is evil is actually good and vs. He has actually gotten people to call something that is good as “that is bad.”

Listen to what God says about this. Isaiah 5:20 (NIV): “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.” Whether it is said innocently or not, this is deception that God warns us against.

Satan is doing his best to morally corruptAmerica, as well as the rest of the world. He is doing his best to get people to believe that God is not the answer to our problems. In fact, he has gotten multitudes to believe that it is actually God who is our problem. Look at what is happening right here inAmerica.

We are taking God out of our government, our schools, and everything else. We even have a “Safe School Czar” (Kevin Jennings) who want to force local school districts to promote homosexuality to kindergarteners and teach your children that your Godly values are “hate speech.”

We need to be aware of what Satan is doing. He is deceiving multitudes of people and they have no idea that Satan is leading them around. They think that they are doing what is good and right and instead they are actually doing what is evil.

I like the way that the Living Bible puts it. I Peter 5:8 (Living Bible): “Be careful–watch out for attacks from Satan, your great enemy. He prowls around like a hungry, roaring lion, looking for some victim to tear apart” Yes, Satan is full of deceiving tricks and we need to be aware and alert as to what he is doing.

Satan Temps Us to Rebel Against God

Many Christians believe that since they are Christians that Satan cannot bother them. If this is true, why did Satan tempt Jesus? Look at Matthew 4:1 (NIV): “Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil.” Are we better than Jesus? No!

In fact, Satan will try to tempt Christians more than he will try to tempt non-Christians. Why? Because he has already started non-Christians down the road to destruction. He wants to turn as many followers of Jesus as he can away from Jesus. If you are a Christian, you need to doubly aware of what Satan is trying to do in your life.

We need to stay as far away from sin as we can. Why? I John 3:8 (NIV): “He who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work.”

God says that if we do what is sinful, we are doing the devil’s (Satan’s) work. If you do what is sinful, you are doing what Satan wants you to do, not what God wants you to so.

Satan Reveals What Is Evil.

Satan brings evil into the light. In fact, this is the reason that Satan is released from his prison after the 1000 years of peace (that comes after the Tribulation Period).

Rev. 20:7-8 (NIV): “When the thousand years are over, Satan will be released from his prison and will go out to deceive the nations in the four corners of the earth–Gog and Magog–to gather them for battle. In number they are like the sand on the seashore.” This will cumulate in the last great battle between good and evil.

How can he do this if he has not been allowed to tempt people for 1000 years? It is because, even during that wonderful time of peace and prosperity, multitudes will still want to do things their own way. They will still want to rebel against Jesus and His rule fromJerusalem, but they do not have the courage to do so.

When Satan is released, he will give them courage and bring their evil out into the open. But it will do them no good. They, and their evil intentions, will finally be completely destroyed.

Satan Holds The Power of Death

Death simply means separation. The first death is the separation of our spirit from our earthly body. Satan brought this death upon the human race when he first tempted Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. Romans 5:12 (NIV): “Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned.”

The second death is the separation of our spirit from God. This is eternal death, that is, eternal separation from the presence of God. It is Satan that holds this power, that is the power to separate us from the presence of God. That is why we must defeat Satan and cast him out of our lives.

Jesus came just for this purpose, to give us the power to defeat Satan. Hebrews 2:14 (NIV): “Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of death–that is, the devil.”

Satan Blinds Us to the Truth

Listen to what God tells us in II Cor. 4:4 (NIV): “The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” The god of this age is Satan and if we are not aware of him and what he is doing, he will blind us and keep us from seeing the truth.

This is why it is up to us to proclaim the Gospel to everyone that we can. Those who have not accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior are blinded by Satan so that they will not believe in Him. That is why it is up to us to tell people about the saving power of Jesus.

    Good article.
To ignore the reality of Satan is to be blind.
And Blind people cannot help others very well.
